Tell the Truth Tuesday!

Here are my true confessions this week, for your viewing pleasure:

1) My husband is an Olympics widower. I am endlessly fascinated by all things Olympics, and catch watch ANY sport during both summer and winter olympics, much to my husband's dismay. He'll come into the room to hear me shouting "WHAT?! Only 95.5 meters! What the hell kind of ski jump is that, Norway!" then shake his head and walk away.

2) I have started sleeping with my iPhone. Okay, not like that, but just as disconcerting. I've been keeping my iPhone next to my bed at night so when I first open my eyes I can press it to my face lovingly and check my email. Yes, I'm querying again--how did you know?

3) I love tiny things. The other day, I was feeling down, so I bought myself some tiny fuzzy animals for my desk at work. It's an inch high giraffe, lemur, and snake, and they run a tiny lemonade stand. This delights me. I spend money on stuff like this more often than I'd care to admit.

4) I am an accidental book thief. If you lend me a book, you will never see it again. I always have good intentions, but once borrowed, I cannot for the life of me remember to return it. I still have a book one of my pastors lent me when I was 14. I worry there might be a special circle of Hell for people who steal religious books from a pastor.

5) I've had a beer in the shower. When my husband was out of town, I started doing very bachelorettey things, such using the bathroom with the door open and eating waffles for dinner. Drinking a beer in the shower was the highlight. I have no regrets.

So, fess up, guys!

What would you like to confess this Tuesday?

Okay, between you and Marybeth . . . I could do with a bit less info about your bathroom habits!!

I leave the bathroom door open for one reason only: if I don't the cat will bang and meow until I open the door. So, if I leave it open in the first place, then I don't have to open it 30 seconds after I go in the bathroom. My question: how does my cat always, I mean always, know when I'm in the bathroom? Does she have some warped psychic abilitiy?

I'm also an accidental book thief, btw. I have a ton of books on my shelves that people gave me. I just can't remember who. Oh, well, if they wanted them back, they'd ask me for them. Right??

I drive too fast, all the time.

I like shiny things like quarters and dimes and stars.

You crack me up! :D

I love tiny things too. They're so cute! Good luck querying!

LOL, I sleep with my phone, too. As soon as the alarm goes off, I'm checking my email. Oh, I've got it bad!! Good luck with the querying!

Truthfully, I'm blogging when I should be making a Portfolio catalog, but that's so boring! I'm trying to avoid all sleep-inducing activities while I'm taking cold medicine.

Safety first!

Oh Fun!

I love rum soaked black forest gateaux. Packed with black cherries and cream. Scrumptious!

I'm guilty of everything you listed! The only difference is I drink beer in the shower because I AM a bachelorette!

I'll add:

My best friend and I both drink beers in the shower, usually one of us sits on the toilet talking to the one in the shower.

I dance badly while drinking beers in the shower. (no I haven't fallen out of the bathtub yet)

I'm going to eat lobster ravioli and drink champagne tonight for no reason at all.

I'm starting to actually get a little depressed because I haven't heard anything from any of the queries I have out right now... not even rejections...

I sing really loud in the car.

I like to tickle the pads of my dog's feet because I know it annoys him.

I read the title of this and thought it was a warning to me, glad to see it's not.

These are hilarious, and it probably won't surprise you to know that actually done all of those thing with exception of the Olympics thing.

Beer in the shower is awesome. :-)

My confession for the week?

I've been skimming! As in, skimming books that don't grab me, as opposed to reading them. I only hope people don't skim mine!!

I keep my phone by my bed too...I'm out on submission (at the two week mark) and am obsessed! I know the feeling. Except, I do this crazy thing where when I open my mail, I cover who it's from and look at the subjects first hoping to see words like "your book sold!" It draws out the anticipation a bit longer. And...I don't just sleep with my phone, I'm surgically attached to my e-mail all day long! I think I need an intervention!

ha! I laughed out loud .. thanks for that.

I sometimes lie to my friends who are book thiefs and tell them "sorry, I lent that book out to someone else". My books are precious and I get all bent out of shape when someone doesn't return.

that's my confession - sorry, but true. I should note that I still totally love those friends. I just have to tell little lies to keep the relationship all happy.

Scott: LOL! My cat does that, too. What's the deal?

Elana: What's wrong with loving shinies?? ;)

Abby: Aww, thanks, dude!

Tere: Hahaha! Okay, at least I'm not alone in my addiction.

Ann: You had me at "rum soaked."

A. Grey: I'm totally jealous now! Also, good shower coordination. Here's hoping you get some requests in your inbox soon!

Kat: I love it when I look over and see someone in the next lane singing in the car :). It makes my day.

Tuesday Kid: I live to be a warning to others.

Lisa: No one could skim your books--too much tension! ;) But seriously, how cool is that about having shower beers? We should all form some kind of club.

Rachele: HOW EXCITING! I would be even more glued to my phone if I were in your place, so it's all good. Here's hoping for good news--keep us posted :D!

Tess: Good! We can't be trusted! We always have good intensions, so your only hope is to keep lying. We book thieves forgive you :).

Rebecca good luck to you in your querying!

Rachele good luck to you too! And I do the same thing when I check my email. I did it on the farm computer the other day and my boss was like, why are you covering the computer screen? When I told her she laughed and gave me hug. I love my boss.

HAHAHA. Love these. One last truth. I'm supposed to be writing. Instead, I'm reading blogs. Regulator junior is going to be kick my butt.

Hehehe. I like your Tuesday confessional.

I, sadly, am a pen thief. Not the expensive ones that folks buy or that are gifted, but junkie company logo ones, or neat shaped ones like in the chiropractors office.

I am guilty of trying to use my work time as my writing time, but since my department moved my office, that doesn't work so well anymore. I do manage to get away with a lot of "research" on the computer that has nothing to do with immigration, international students, or even teaching.

And, I am an email 'ho. I have to compulsively check my email and my blog entries. Sad, but true. I can't even use the excuse of having queries out.

So, there you now know my ugly truths.

I really like loud music, and even my teenagers tell me to turn it down. I'm not a fan of eggplant or nutty ice cream. I am a fan of your blog, however, and I posted an award for you this morning!

Beer in the shower? That is hysterical. I'm trying not to picture it! I'm glad you live on the other side of the country, so you I can't lend/lose any of my books.

I don't have anything as good as beer in the shower for a confession. Mine are either boring or sound crazy. Okay, I'll go with crazy. My kids have bought me several stuffed animals, which are on my night stand. I pat each one on the head before I go to bed.
