Work In Progress Wednesday!

It's only Wednesday, but it's already been a rough week. I've been cranky for a variety of small and silly reasons.

For example, I'm going on vacation in 11 days, which is wonderful, but this means I needed to buy a swimsuit. You ladies over 100lbs out there understand what I mean when I say trying on swimsuits is a traumatizing experience. After much bikini-wrestling, I finally said "Screw it, this one is fine" and bought one. Yet the crankiness was already implanted in my subconscious from staring at my pasty midsection in a poorly lighted fitting room mirror. Weak. Sauce.

I'm also sleep deprived because my brain has been hyper the last few nights, and am starting to suspect one of my legs may be longer than the other. No proof yet, but troubling nonetheless :P.

Luckily, before the wave of crankiness hit, I was really productive last week and this weekend! :) Hooraaaay for progress!

--I did a ton of editing on my novel and am about halfway through the manuscript combing for any and all passive language.

--I got some suggestions on how to make my closing scene ever more Epic, and have jotted down the changes. I am ready to roll.

I feel like I'm about 2-3 weeks away from really having a Perfect Manuscript, which is an amazing feeling. (Disclaimer: "perfect" is here defined as "as close to perfect as I can possibly get it.")

So, now I'm trying to shake the risidual crankies so I can be productive tonight as well. The picture below definitely helps the mood, especially when I imagine Patrick Stewart reading the caption:

Hehehehe. Every time, man. Every time.

I'd love to hear how you are doing!

Any tips for battling crankiness?

How is your week going?

You know how my weeks been going.

So, one leg longer than the other? Hmmmm . . . Have you ever been aware of your tongue? Every little bump? Oh, yeah, Linus from the Peanuts comic strips was aware of his tongue for about three weeks when I was growing up. Too dang funny . . . at least until it happened to me!

In the best possible manner possible . . . don't worry about the bathing suit, there's always someone more tragic out there. Picture it - me in FL a few weeks ago, minding my own business, walking the beach, splashing in the waves and then (shudder at the thought) a 70 year old, overweight man wearing a speedo! Yes, a speedo. Very few people should wear speedos. I'm just saying . . .

Ah yes, the speedo :). That thought (frightening as it may be) has successfully cheered me up. Thanks, dude!

One leg longer than the other? I nearly snorted my Dr. Pepper when I read that. You're so funny. :)

Don't worry, this will pass. Just get lost in the feeling of being almost done with your revisions and try not to think about how your kids have been trying to kill each other all day. Oh, wait. Those are my kids. Sorry. :)

And, um, bathing suits? My friend took her daughter with her to try them on, and after trying on a few, her daughter looked at her and said very seriously, "Mom, maybe swimsuits just aren't the right kind of clothes for you."

LOL, I've been cranky, too, lately, but I think it has more to do with work, grumble grumble.

And while I'm going on vacation at the end of this month, too, it's not so much the carefree swim-suit kind as the seeing old relatives before they get too old to remember me kind.

Also, I'm going to see my mom, who still lives in the town where I went to hs. Yeah. Can't wait to see the people I went to hs with. Really.

The icing on the cake is that my mom doesn't drink, and doesn't really like to have alcohol in her house. And I'm going to be there for six days.

The one bright shining beacon of hope is the Drive-In. Yes, folks, 2 screens showing double features nightly all summer long. Sure, I want to see my mom and family, but I want to go to the drive-in more. ;)

Okay, I'm done ranting. I'm going to go get an ice-cream.

Abby--thanks :). And that story is so wrong! Hopefully I can teach my future children how to lie to me about stuff like that.

Tere--you are too funny! My family doesn't drink either, so I feel your pain. Enjoy the movies and the not being at work-ness.

I haven't made any progress on my work, but I can completely understand the bathing suit thing. I am going away on vacation in two weeks (literally will be on the plane two weeks from right now). And I need to go get a suit, and I'm dreading it. I tried a month ago and got so fed up and disgusted with myself. Haha. Gotta love it when they make them for boards of wood, not women.

My tip for battling crankiness (which I am experiencing right now for my own stupid and small reasons) is eat something sweet, something you really love. Then go for a nice long walk or jog. You'll feel calmer at least.

Oh, man, have I been cranky. Not that anyone could tell, right? *snarf* I don't really have a magic cloud that will turn your rainy day into a sunshiny day, but I just try to vent to my friends and then distract myself with something shiny. That usually works. ;-)

Susan--it's so true about the flat wooden boards! What the whaaaat?? Hang in there, friend.

Elana--I totally bought myself a Transformer action figure for my desk and have been playing with it. You're totally right: shinies help :D.

Despite the crankiness, it sounds like you've gotten a lot of good stuff done.
I tried on a bathing suit a couple months ago. I laughed at the mirror and thought, "What happened to you?!"
And about Patrick Stewart, I got his autograph once, and I said "thank you." And he looked at me and smiled and said, "You're welcome!" And I can still hear his voice in my head!

One word: swimsuit cover.

Oh, I guess that's two. Still, if I have a cute cover, I'm good to go!

And, am I the only one who doesn't get the picture/caption? 'Splain, please.

Swimsuit cover = great idea :P.

And Patrick Stewart is better known as Captain Jean Luc Picard of the Starship Enterprise. And he's a badass.

And I love him.

So yeah. There you go :P.

Please anyone feel free to help me out here...
