I Just Threw Up in My Mouth a Little....

Or, Anti-Gay Protestors have gone a weeee bit too far..

Yeah.

In case you didn't know, there's a movement happening where the so-called "National Organization for Marriage" (NOM) is hittin' the open road this summer trying to drum up hate against them gays.  Because, you know, two people who've been together 30 years and want to share healthcare benefits = THE END OF MARRIAGE AS WE KNOW IT!

However, one of their rallies took a turn for the uber-dark recently when this sign above was whipped out by a NOM supporter.  So far the group hasn't done anything to say "Come on, guys, we don't really want to kill gays... knock it off!"

Seriously, NOM?  Seriously.

As a Christian (and a person), this pretty much makes me want to barf.

Would you please join me in signing a petition to have NOM renounce this kind of bigoted and alarming behavior at their rallies?  To do so, Click Here and fill out your info to join in!

Because really, can't we all agree that we don't want to murder those who are different than we are? :)

I think we can.

HORRIBLE! Intolerance makes me SICK! Anyone with half a brain should know to stay as far away from that organization as POSSIBLE!

This is so sick. And these illiterates can't even read the Bible. There are so many more "abominations"--like eating pork--they happily ignore. How about they go lynch Oscar Mayer? They also ignore those ten commandment things that say "thou shalt not kill" And they blaspheme the name of Jesus by making "Christian" a synonym for "Ignorant, bigoted psychopath."

Ugh. That is awful. I saw less hate during Pride in Utah (near temple square). *shakes head* Sad that some people feel this is okay, who claim to be doing it for "good" or "religion.

SERIOUSLY!! It's so true.

It's like they missed that whole 2nd half of the Bible where Jesus was like "Hey, guys, the Law was to prove how imperfect everyone is without God's help and it's abolished. Also, love your neighbor! Okay, peace out.."

Ugh. The Bible also says not to suffer a witch to live. Really shows how culturally relevant it is after all these years.

Thanks for this link.

The overall message of the gospels is still relevant in today's society -- put the needs of others before your own, love your enemy, clean the crap off your own back porch before you tell someone else to sweep theirs.

That last one is the one people seem to forget about the most in cases where society has evolved (like the acceptance of gays and the advancement of women in leadership roles).

The problem is people will believe something is wrong if someone -- like a church leader who claims to have authority -- tells them it's wrong, but they refuse to pray and listen to their heart -- where Christians believe God lives to discern whether or not it's right to hang onto that hate.

Whoa. That is scary. I'm really saddened by how much hate I've seen lately. Every news story I read has a mile-long list of hateful commenters slinging mud at each other. Then I see something like this. It makes me shudder.

I am SO with you! Just got invited to a wedding for two women. Makes me so sad that they had to go to NH to get legally married because NY won't allow it.

I really find it sad to see something like that.

Christianity is supposed to be founded on Love and Forgiveness.

Who you are, how you dress and who you're in love with should have nothing to do with others. It's between the person and God.

Doesn't the Bible say that we are not to judge others while he have our own faults?

So sickening. I'm signing. Hate never brought about the change the hater wanted. At least for long.

In other news, so glad to find your blog. Looks like we have a lot of mutual friends! Sad we haven't met before. :o)

Cheers,
Jackee
